The Review:

This author, John Meeke, seems to be a ghostwriter with an unaccredited academic background. I could find no introductory profile anywhere for this writer. Where are the credentials? To me, it reads like a college research paper, and John Meeke is attempting to get some extra mileage out of his classwork. But, it does have some relative reference merit and value in his sharing of informational research.

My Review Summary:

For me, Intermittent fasting through boosting your prebiotic fiber and probiotic intake is the best method I know of to help get Slim and Trim and your ability to stay that way. I view intermittent ketogenic fasting as the consciously intentional abstinence of lipogenic and growth-inducing nutrients to create a catabolic state of metabolism within adipose tissue and an adaption of the brain to consume Ketones rather than that of glycogenKetone bodies are transported into tissues outside the liver where they are created and then converted into acetyl-CoA for use by mitochondria throughout the body to produce the actual energy chemical, ATP. And, You may be unaware these Ketone bodies in the brain assist in converting acetyl-CoA into long-chain fatty acids. (NCBI: NBK493179, PMID: 33233502) These fatty acids are necessary for the upkeep of neurons in the brain. (PMID: 23921897)

It is not my intention to start a rant here, but many pseudo-scholars will often attribute that fasting has been used therapeutically since the 5th century BCE. They will also attribute that the Greek physician Hippocrates as having recommended abstinence from food or drink for patients who exhibited specific symptoms of illness, as well as quoting that he wrote, “To eat when you are sick, is to feed your illness.” 

However, I have found that the opposite is true in factual reference to this misquote of his writings. (See HIPPOCRATES Vol. 1 Pg. 27 Sec. IX) “if a man takes insufficient food, the mistake is as great as that of excess and harms the man just as much. For abstinence has upon the human constitution a most powerful effect, to enervate, weaken, and kill. Depletion produces many other evils, different from those of repletion, but just as severe.”) For me, misquoting Hippocrates in this way is akin to the typical snake-oil quackery of a shameless self-promoter.

Moreover, there is enough factual evidence to accept that the early great philosophers, thinkers, and healers did advocate fasting for health and as a healing therapy. And, you will find through sufficient scrutiny of their works that Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, and Galen were all passionate proponents of fasting. (I intend to bring my fact-finding out in a chapter of a future book.) In addition, ancient Greek philosophers such as Pythagoras required fasting of their students to help them improve mental focus.

Fasting is in fact evolutionary to our bodily functions, and toxins are allowed to accumulate when we don’t. I have developed a hybrid 5:2 intermittent fast to encouraging flourishing gut flora (a.k.a. TheCarbFast). For me, Intermittent fasting through boosted prebiotic fiber and probiotic intake is the best method I know of to help you get Slim and Trim and stay that way.
