What about the mitochondria?
Do you need an Energy Drink? This may be contrary to your belief and you may not wish to hear it, but the truth is your energy can not be consumed in a drink. If you believe the misleading advertising you’ll only become addicted to a cellular damaging toxin. It’s quite insidious to me that commercial American advertising corporations continuously bombard a naïve public with the selfish goal of persuading us to believe that a sweet-tasting soft drink can give us both energy and happiness. However, in reality, these drinks are not only making the majority of otherwise healthy Americans fat, but it is also slowly sickening those addicted towards an excruciating death, plagued by a plethora of expensive medical conditions. Can you see, this is no different than a dangerous criminal pushing his deadly pleasure drug for me?
Have you not heard of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave? For me, the increasing co-morbid tide of obesity begs the question, “Have we not become symbolically tied to the walls of the socially fabricated cave of American capitalism only to become delusional about the dim shadows we see there?” A toxic stimulant, such as Caffeine, does not give you any so-called energy, it only tricks your brain into thinking that you can work harder for longer, and like sugar, it’s addictive. Yet, I can imagine that ancient scholars such as Hippocrates and Plato may have envisioned this growing American tide of obesity as a lack of clear reasoning. Sadly, your brain will continue to crave this toxin until the addition is broken, and predictably this will probably mean a painful death.
“Nonsense,” you’ll probably say, “but why should I attempt to change what I have no control over?” However, there is only one person you have control over, and there is only one indisputable form of energy that your body actually needs. It’s made within your mitochondria, not in a soda factory. Evidence exists that your need to stay awake and get less than 7.5 hours of sleep is driving your obesity. You have unwittingly enslaved yourself to your main problem, just as Henry David Thoreau saw it, you have a wanton desire to need more than you really do, and it’s not a good life.
Most food advertising is crafted with the goal of achieving an effective Pavlovian Conditioned Response (video) and stimulate a cephalic phase that will make you crave their product. One of the hormones excreted through Enteroendocrine cells in the lining of the stomach in the cephalic phase is the hormone ghrelin. And, then suddenly when we see this product in a store we are compelled to purchase and consume a highly addictive slow-acting mitochondrial toxin unwittingly. Can you see how insidious this is? Titans of the food industry believe that they are ethical in their greed to push a toxin and our government officials are too naive to stop it. You are but a slave to your desire.
Almost every cell in your body contains mitochondria. Almost that is but for the ones tasked to transport the chemicals efficiently, such as blood, or the ones tasked with storing the excess triglyceride produced by your liver. Cells with the largest concentration of these powerhouse organelles existing in your heart muscle because they must continue flexing 24/7, and this vitally requires ATP (adenosine triphosphate) more than any other part of your body. And, your fat cells (adipose tissue), which are considered the body’s storage containers for its reserve fuel source, and have the least mitochondria. This probably makes perfect sense for a rational person if you’re considering what it takes to devinly design the most efficient biological system.
The mitochondria are best known for converting nutrients to energy in a process called the Krebs or citric acid cycle, part of cellular respiration (what is happening in your body when you take a breath, and it’s why you are breathing). Are you unwittingly destroying yourself by thinking sweetness is a good thing? Scientific evidence has proven that sugar is a nutrient-deficient toxin that is most likely tricking your brain into an uncontrollable drinking and eating habit of excess consumption of this poisonous nutrient, which is causing irreversible damage to your body at a cellular level (oxidative stress).
